The PMI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (PMISFBAC) has a call to action to support the military members of our community. After reaching out to Travis Air Force Base in August 2016, we realize there is a need to assist active and former military personnel in transitioning into careers in Project Management.

Program Highlights

  • Provide networking and educational opportunities for local veterans and active duty personnel interested in transitioning into Project Management

  • Assist local companies interested in supporting the successful transition of veterans

  • Tap into trained leaders from the military to help PMISFBAC increase the community of servant leaders

  • Increase awareness of PMI and PMISFBAC and contribute to community outreach

  • Increase certifications of members, through training, education and mentorship

  • Increase general membership in our local chapter

Essential to the success of this program is the volunteer position of Military Liaison, presently filled by Lieutenant Colonel Sean Williams, who is the Professor of Military Science in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of San Francisco.

Sean is a member of PMI and is striving to become a certified PMP.

It is our hope that other PMI chapters will adopt this volunteer Military Liaison role and advocate for a national level position to orchestrate future implementations nationwide. The Military Liaison will be an essential position for every PMI Chapter that has a military base in the local metropolitan area.  It will also be very beneficial for those chapters that have substantial military veteran populations.

The benefits of this position for chapters, military personnel, veterans, and the local community, are presented in the following documents made available by the Tampa Bay chapter.
