Across The Board: PMI SFBAC Member Appreciation Day 2018

The PMI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Member Appreciation Day 2018, took place on Thursday, June 7th at Wells Fargo Learning and Event Center in San Francisco. In this annual celebration, we show our appreciation to our members-owners who choose to spend valuable time with us, come to our events, give us feedback, share their experience in projects and programs from various industries and contribute to make our Chapter a vibrant community.

The event was a great success, held in a top-quality venue easily accessible by BART, offered delicious food, multiple raffles with many valuable gifts that attracted 200 registrations, networking games with exciting prizes and 1 PDU with the presentation of one of the best speakers in SF Bay Area. The Board of Directors and Operations team, shared with almost 100 members who joined us the Chapter’s annual results, the annual survey results, our plans for this year, our Policy Governance model and introduced the volunteers who offer their time to make everything happen. Batchimeg Shagdarguntev, Board Director, and Ramya Krishnamoorthy, COO, worked for more than three months with the NextGen Board member, Thi Han, the NextGen Operations Director, Mauli Thacker Shah, volunteers like Meliana Hakim and many more, in order to put together such a great event.

Starting with our Annual General Meeting:

  • The review of the Chapter’s Financial performance was presented by the Chief Financial Officer, Zenaida Alejandrino. Along with her team and our treasurer, they ensure the financial health of our Chapter.
  • The Chapter Performance, updates and survey results were presented by the CEO, Cecilio Mills. As we attend areas of improvement, we are happy with the member satisfaction and with the increase of our membership to more than 3,000 members, which motivate us to keep on growing with more activities, events and programs.
  • The Board President, Nathan Mellin, introduced the new Board members, Paloma Mejia, treasurer and Priya Guyadeen, Director at Large. He talked about our strategic programs, Academic Outreach, Military Outreach and Next Generation Leaders and presented the volunteers who are running those programs and materialize our strategic goals to reach untapped expertise as well as engage the new leaders who will drive our profession in the near future.

After a break for dinner and networking, the Chief Governance Officer, Anup Deshpande, whose contribution in attracting the best speakers for our members is instrumental, introduced our speaker Andrew Webster. Andrew, an enterprise, team, and personal transformation coach and trainer, took us on a trip to the Agile world explaining why agile practices are inevitable.

Our last presenter was Tyrone Navarro, past President currently serving as Board Director at Large, who shared with our members our Policy Governance model and how it helps us organize and run our Chapter effectively.

After the presentations, our Next Generation Leaders took over the stage and played fun games with the audience, giving away many beautiful gifts.

By the end of the event we all felt inspired, connected and optimistic for our profession and its advancements and happy to be part of this active, welcoming and fun professional community.

On behalf of PMI SFBAC Board and Operations team, I would like to express our great appreciation to our members-owners for their commitment and precious involvement. We are looking forward to more events like this year’s Member Appreciation Day!
