Celebrating Sandy Mitchell’s Contributions to PMI-SFBAC

Board announcements

That quiet voice of reason behind the scenes at Board meetings was often Sandy Mitchell.  Her thoughtful comments often brought the group back on-track to address key issues.

She provided outstanding work for the chapter as a Director At Large and as Chief Governance Officer.  As CGO, she attended Govern For Impact and PMI Global conferences representing the chapter and bringing back information that helped us stay an accredited chapter.

Updating our Bylaws and getting approval from all was a major task.  And a monumental effort was needed to review and update our Policy Governance document – all 39+ pages!  Sandy made sure key procedural items were taken care of quickly and easily, including taking a first cut to re-organize the Policy Governance materials in a way that all could provide input more easily.  And that helped clarify roles and responsibilities for Board members and our CEO.

Both key documents were then approved by PMI Global.

Sandy also was aces at simplifying the annual strategy setting process for the chapter.  There were a lot of diverse ideas from the Board and Operations that were brought up – and Sandy reviewed all, removing duplicates and streamlining the key asks.  She then ensured our list of strategies synced up with PMI Global for a timely submission that was part of our chapter renewal.

A fun story about Sandy – she helped clean out a storage locker the chapter was no longer using and managed to find a copy of the PMBOK First Edition!  It is now enshrined in her full library of all the PMBOK’s.

We wish Sandy all the best as she leaves her Board post having made the group more effective and part of the PMI Global family.  Thank you, Sandy!
