On a beautiful evening in San Francisco, the Project Management Institute (PMI) SF Bay Area Chapter celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a sold-out event that brought together members, partners, industry leaders, and special guests to commemorate five decades of project management excellence. Held against the stunning backdrop of the San Francisco skyline, the event - themed “Golden Glamor” - was a testament to the vibrant community and enduring impact of PMI in the Bay Area.

Welcoming Remarks and Keynote Speakers

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome reception, where guests enjoyed networking and reconnecting with colleagues and friends over cocktails and appetizers. Attendees spread across 3 decks on our private vessel, the San Francisco Spirit, enjoying fabulous views of the SF skyline, Angel Island, Alcatraz, and the picturesque towns of Tiburon and Sausalito in Marin.

Board President Jay Ashford welcomed the group and introduced our first keynote speaker, Amanda Palmer. Amanda shared her journey and the innovative initiatives she has led as the Manager of Chapter Engagement at PMI. Her passion for fostering growth and engagement among PMI members was truly inspiring.

We were also honored to hear from Jennifer Tharp, a distinguished member of the PMI Board of Directors and president of Mastodon Consulting. Her extensive experience and strategic vision provided valuable perspectives on leadership and the future of project management.

Celebratory Dinner and Acknowledgments

As the sun set over the Golden Gate Bridge, guests gathered for a delightful dinner. The elegantly decorated anniversary cake featuring the number "50" was a centerpiece of the celebration, symbolizing the remarkable milestone achieved by PMI SF Bay Area. Chapter CEO Shashi Rangarajan cut the celebratory first slice!

Throughout the evening, we took the opportunity to thank our generous sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible. A heartfelt shoutout to Hyperdrive Agile, Hult International Business School, Gantt Academy, PMA Consultants, and Golden Gate University for their support and partnership.

The picturesque view of the San Francisco skyline, including iconic landmarks like the Transamerica Pyramid and Salesforce Tower, served as a perfect backdrop for the evening’s celebrations. As we made our way back from the Golden Gate, the sun went down and the dance floor got busy.

Looking Ahead

The 50th Anniversary event was not just a reflection on the past but also a glimpse into the promising future of project management and the warm community offered by our chapter.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating this significant milestone. Here's to the next 50 years of innovation, growth, and community in the SF Bay Area and beyond!

Stay connected with PMI SF Bay Area for more events and opportunities to learn, connect, and give back. Together, we continue to elevate project success and make a difference in our world.

Thank you for being part of our journey!
