Jay’s Leadership Journey as PMISFBAC President

In early 2023, Jay took over the presidency of PMISFBAC and steered the chapter through two years of growth, transition, and cooperation. His leadership was characterized by commitment to strategic planning, nurturing relationships within the organization, and ensuring that the chapter was responsive to the needs of its members.

One of the first things that Jay did was to help with the leadership transitions, ensuring that outgoing leaders were appreciated for their time on the board while making way for new ideas and board members. His involvement in the CEO search process was also crucial as he assisted in selecting Shashi Rangarajan as the chapter’s new leader to ensure a smooth transition and continued growth. As a result of his understanding of the need for collaboration, he enhanced the communication between the board members and operations leaders by establishing bi-annual offsite meetings to enable the leadership team to set and implement strategic goals for our organization.

As a member of the Board, Jay was a strong voice for member engagement, and he spearheaded the initiative to develop an annual member survey for the chapter’s 3,000 members. This feedback was vital in formulating the chapter’s strategic priorities and incorporating the members’ inputs in the decision-making process. He also helped coordinate and organize the annual general meetings physically and virtually to ensure all members could attend. He also contributed to the chapter’s community through event planning and mentorship, beyond governance. He was also instrumental in planning and executing the chapter’s 50th-anniversary event, bringing members together to mark this significant occasion.

Furthermore, his efforts in revising the governance documents, including the bylaws and policy frameworks, guaranteed that the chapter’s structure was effective and flexible. Jay also shared knowledge, led a Salesforce-101 workshop, and actively engaged in other programs like mentorship, sustainability, and volunteer appreciation. He based his leadership style on operational effectiveness and a personal touch to make PMISFBAC a warm and well-organized community.

As Jay steps down from the leadership position, the chapter becomes more organized, involved, and ready to develop further. He has established a better foundation to benefit PMISFBAC in delivering value to its members. Thank you, Jay. We wish you all the best and look forward to our continued relationship.
