Coaching Skills for Project Managers

Power Skills

Description

Project managers often struggle to truly engage, motivate, and empower their teams. Many find it challenging to delegate and wish team members and stakeholders would step up and be more accountable.

Coaching is a perfect tool to help managers develop their emotional intelligence and learn how to truly empower others. When we coach we listen deeply to the other person and guide them to find their own answers and to take inspired action. It's a win-win situation. The team member feels listened to, seen, and empowered. The project manager feels deeply satisfied that the team member is now able to move forward and take responsibility for their own actions.

This workshop will be interactive and give you an opportunity to practice your coaching skills with other participants. Please come prepared with a little issue or dilemma that you would like someone to coach you through. This could be from your personal or professional life.

Why Join?

Many project managers are very task-oriented and in need of strengthening their emotional and relational skills. Coaching is a perfect tool to help PMs become more aware of others (empathize) and empower others to find their own answers. This is especially powerful for someone who is leading a team and feels the team is overly reliant on them. By use of coaching the PM will learn to guide the other person to find their own answers which is very empowering. It's a win-win situation.
