We will meet at the bottom of the 16^th Avenue Tiled Steps in San Francisco, located on Moraga Street between 15^th and 16^th Avenues.

• Hat, Sunscreen

10:00 am Sign in with Director of Sustainability. Meet our NITC project leader for supplies and instruction.

Event Description- 

Nature in the City is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to connecting communities to the stewardship of urban wildlife through habitat restoration and educational projects. We will be joining them in their efforts to prepare the Green Hairstreak Butterfly Corridor for the winter. The Green Hairstreak’s population had dwindled to less than 100 and was thought to be extinct when it was rediscovered in 2006. Urban growth had isolated Green Hairstreak populations from each other, risking inbreeding and decline. The Green Hairstreak Project has reunited the separate populations by creating stepping stones of habitats and supports the genetic mixing necessary for the survival of the species. We will be working rain or shine planting native coastal plants critical to the Green Hairstreak life cycle.

There is street parking in the neighborhood. The MUNI lines N, 66, and 28 service this area.
