Oakland Virtual Roundtable
Session Description
This month we're diving into the world of events and entertainment while trying out a slightly different format that features TWO speakers and plenty of opportunity for audience engagement (in case you've ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes)!
Project management is present in every aspect of the event and entertainment industry, whether we're talking about translating creative vision into deliverable outcomes, managing timelines and stakeholder alignment, controlling scope, or managing risk and delivering under pressure.
This session promises to be an enlightening one, pulling back the curtain to reveal a glimpse of what goes into the production of events and entertainment that not only captivate and engage millions of people, but deliver unforgettable experiences that turn even stoic stakeholders into impassioned advocates.
Speaker Info
While we've got two speakers on this month's topic, one of them is an absolute legend in his field. Patrick Kriwanek.
While you might not know him by name alone, it's very likely you've enjoyed his work.
Patrick Kriwanek has produced and/or directed over 1000 commercials and corporate projects, 72 music videos (for artists such as NWA, Ice-T, Ice Cube, MC Hammer, SmashMouth, and Def Leppard), 2 pilots for Fox Television ("The American Muscle Cars: Carroll Shelby" and "The Making of a Raiderette"), and has written two screenplays which both sold for over $250,000.
He has worked for George Lucas at Skywalker Ranch, for Producer Saul Zaentz on "Amadeus" and "The English Patient", and for Francis Ford Coppola at American Zoetrope in San Francisco before walking out after 60 minutes.
He has been the Academic Dean of four major film schools and has been teaching Producing and Directing for nearly 40 years. Over the course of 6 years, he built the largest WASC-Accredited, degree-granting film program in the nation, growing that program from 79 to over 950 students in six years. He also founded his own film school, which was honored by The Wrap magazine as "The 20th Best Film Program in the Nation", a process which was determined by voting among 500 Los Angeles industry professionals, including producers, directors, agents, managers, and film business below-the line professionals.
He is currently developing a 7-part miniseries for Netflix, the subject of which is secret.
Our other speaker is a seasoned event and entertainment professional who frequently blurs the lines between technical and creative project management to deliver value and drive impact.
They bring with them a track record that spans TV, film, theater, concerts, conferences, festivals, fashion shows, galas, and non-profit community events for clients like Google, Apple, Siemens, Workday, EA Games, Oracle, Salesforce, Stubhub, Intel, Zoom, Netflix, the Golden State Warriors, and the NFL.
