You Flush and My Job Begins - Sewers and Sustainability
Description: |
For most of you, after you flush, you are glad to be done with it. That’s when Bessie Tam’s job begins. The Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP) is a 20-year citywide investment required to upgrade the aging San Francisco sewer infrastructure to ensure a reliable and seismically safe sewer system now and for generations to come. Come learn how the San Francisco sewer system works, how we got here, and the multi-billion dollar improvements that started in 2012. Bessie will also explain how sewer assets, with service lives of 30, 50 or 100-years, are inherently sustainable. The registration fee is a donation we are collecting for community service project materials. If you have been impacted financially by COVID-19, please reach out to sustainabilitydirector@pmisfbac.org for a fee waiver. |
