February 2020 | Our 2020 Board Election Results
Across the Board: 2020 Board Election Results
Your voice has been heard! Your vote has been counted.
The Board of Directors is proud to announce the final results of the 2020 Board Election that closed on January 24, 2020. This sets up new leadership for the Chapter in the new decade this spring. The new Board members term will begin on April 1, 2020. The new Board Officers and Members are as follows:
- President 2020 - 2021 - Dina Tasiou, PMP, CSM
- Treasurer 2020 - 2021 - Zenaida Alejandrino, PMP
- Members at Large 2020 - 2023
- Tim Bombosch, PMP, CSM, PhD
- Cynthia Maria Estalilla, CAPM
- Isabelle Lescent-Giles, PhD
These new board members were on a ballot of highly qualified strong leaders who were willing to step up in serving as a leader in the next new set of Board members at large and new officers to lead the 2020 team of the Board of Directors. This vote and the expression of your voice was again heard as members exercised the right as an owner of the PMI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter.
We are proud to have had a slate of diverse candidates. I want to thank all who applied and showed interest in getting involved in leading the chapter into a new era for the chapter and for global headquarter’s PMI 2.0.
I’d like to extend much gratitude to the Nominations and Election Committee for conducting such a successful election process. The election process was chaired by our leader Nathan Mellin for which without his expertise and evaluation, we would have had a difficult time acquiring such a talented set of member leaders! I am looking forward to the strategic leadership from the new team of Board leaders in 2020-2021!
The new Board will take the reins of continuous assessment of the needs of our chapter members in the new climate of the PMBOK 6 exam, Disciplined Agile, PMI 2.0, and the state of Project Management today. I think it is important to note to you as a Member and a Chapter Owner that the Board will take on the strategy execution of the results from the AGM survey in August 2019 and Ends Retreat in September 2019 to meet and help us all scale up and bring the chapter into the next level of organizational excellence.
There’s much more in store in the year ahead with the new leadership so stay tuned or join us in person at any regularly scheduled Board meeting to get updates on Board activities or to get involved with upcoming projects.
Board meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 am-1:00 pm at Golden Gate University. For specific information or questions of the Board, email President@pmisfbac.org.
Lastly, I’d like to thank the current outgoing Board members leaders Anup Deshpande and Nathan Mellin for their service and commitment to the chapter. As an all-volunteer organization, their dedication and all that they have done have made significant contributions to the Chapter and positively affects its many, many members.
On behalf of the PMI-SFBAC Board of Directors, we’ll look forward to seeing you at upcoming chapter meetings and events in this the first year of the new decade!
Best regards,
Tyrone Navarro

The PMI-SFBAC's Logo Is Uniquely Its Own
Last year, the PMI celebrated its 50th anniversary milestone by introducing a new brand identity and logo. In tune with this new positioning for the future of work, former Marketing Director of the PMI San Francisco Bay Area chapter (and new Director at Large of the Board) Lorena De Benedittis saw an opportunity to take things a step further. Though now a passionate project manager, Lorena drew inspiration from her education in Design at the ISIA Urbino in Italy to draw up a customized version of the PMI logo just for our chapter. Having studied at one of the best universities of editorial design and typography in Europe, working on taking the brand identity a step more “was really fun,” she said.
Starting with the new brand identity logo from PMI Global, it took a total of two months to design the five alternative options, put them through the Board’s voting process, and get the chosen option sanctioned by PMI Global for official use. The result? A PMI-SFBAC logo with our Golden Gate Bridge as an icon in the bottom right square, where the original purple slanted lines symbolized change.
“Design is a universal language and needs to be readable in a few seconds by everyone. Less is more,” Lorena explains. The chapter will be using this special PMI-SFBAC logo on its website, social media pages, and other collateral into the future as part of our chapter’s continuing push into the future Project Economy.
Lorena De Benedittis is a Director at Large of the PMI-SFBAC Board.
